“So Moses told the people, ‘You must be careful to obey all the commands of the Lord your God, following his instructions in every detail. Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy.’” - Deuteronomy 5:32-33 NLT
Obedience: The Key to True Freedom
When God passed down the Ten Commandments through Moses, they were filled with instructions about what not to do. A rebellious person might see them as difficult restrictions that spoil a person’s fun. A wise person, however, would recognize that obedience to God’s law preserves personal freedom.
Sin can trap a person in shame, broken relationships, bitterness, or even legal trouble. Beyond that, sin throws us out of alignment with God. Don’t view the Commandments as regulations that complicate life. Instead, see them as freedom-finders—guides that help us maintain our relationships with others and with God.
But here’s the truth: we cannot walk in His commandments without learning to live in His strength.
